BBC Digital Cities returns to Manchester this Autumn
BBC Digital Cities returns to Manchester for a week of digital events aimed at the city’s creative digital industries. Running…
HOST, the Home of Skills & Technology, is partnering with leading coffee roastery Grindsmith at HOST Social, an events, conference and business lounge on the seventh floor of the innovation hub at MediaCityUK, previously operated by Social 7.
Set in a stylish location with stunning views overlooking the historic Manchester Ship Canal and Salford Quays, HOST Social offers a brand-new menu with fresh produce and a range of options at its upgraded kitchen and versatile events space, which will open on Monday 13 September.
Grindsmith has recruited a new team of up to 15 people to provide catering at its new site at HOST Social, including a full kitchen and banqueting team alongside a general manager and front of house staff. This will be Grindsmith’s fourth site and its second location in MediaCity.
Combining a vibrant shared working environment alongside event spaces, HOST Social includes a 20-seat state-of-the-art private cinema, meeting snugs, conference rooms and a beautifully designed bar, providing a relaxed yet professional setting for visitors.

HOST Social offers a members-only business lounge, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, for those who are part of the hub’s innovation community, which includes exclusive free membership for MediaCityUK businesses, members of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, participants on HOST’s programmes, its members and partners.
Its spaces can also be booked for external events such as meetings, conferences, weddings, private dinners, and celebrations. The venue is closed to the public in the evenings and at weekends when it is open for events only.
This follows Grindsmith’s recent collaboration with Nescafé Azera, which saw the creation of the UK’s first instant craft coffee rolled out to supermarkets across the nation.
Pete said: “Our Media City store is our most successful site and with the continual developments around Salford, we are very proud to be recognised as a key partner for HOST and its innovation community. We want to bring our high standards of service and the quality of product we are known for, and supersize it at HOST Social. This is a new opportunity to showcase our talents, from a delicious lounge menu to large-scale catered events. To think that we started in a kiosk serving flat whites, to now doing private six-course tasting menus is a very exciting prospect for us.”
“It’s amazing to partner with Grindsmith at HOST Social, where we can help create some amazing memories for people. It is such a flexible venue, uniquely laid out to create a perfect environment for all types of events, from conferences and weddings to product launches and cinema nights,” added Cheryl Garnett, events sales and marketing manager at HOST.
Mo Isap, CEO of IN4 Group, operator of HOST, said: “We’re delighted to launch HOST Social on our fantastic seventh floor with Grindsmith, a well-established, unique brand with a desire to grow and diversify in the conference and events industry. It’s part of our culture and vision to support local businesses, and Pete and the team at Grindsmith, are a perfect match for us.
“Grindsmith will bring a vibrant and exciting buzz to our lounge and event space along with our shared priority of providing the best customer service to our guests at HOST. Our ambition for HOST Social is to be a central hub to connect, collaborate and network with our members and the wider technology community at MediaCity.”
