Manchester Water Taxis to launch new MediaCityUK to Spinningfields route

Due to the success of the initial route and demand for a better way to travel between MediaCityUK and Spinningfields, Manchester Water Taxis is launching their new route on Monday 25^th September.

Salford based brand Henri Lloyd are proudly partnering with Manchester Water Taxis, supplying the team with the latest in technical marine clothing to protect them from the elements this winter whilst operating on the Ship Canal.

Passengers will soon be able to hop on the Henri Lloyd at The Alchemist MediaCityUK and travel along the Manchester Ship Canal to the Manchester Marriott Victoria & Albert Hotel in Spinningfields in under 30 minutes.

Passengers travelling from MediaCityUK will be able to hop on the waxi at a newly created transport interchange between the water taxi, tram every bus every hour from 07:00. The Henri Lloyd will then depart Spinningfields every hour starting at 07:30.

Manchester Water Taxis founder Steven Cadwell said: “This additional route has been put in place to meet the demands of people wanting to travel between the hugely popular MediaCityUK at Salford Quays and Spinningfields, central Manchester.

It’s something that will appeal to a lot of people who want a different way to travel between both locations for either work or leisure. We know our roads are getting more and more congested, and more people are seeking alternative forms of transport.

The Henri Lloyd waxi not only offers a practical solution but also one which is a fun and relaxing alternative to sitting on a tram, bus or in the back of a taxi.”

Newly elected Mayor of Greater Manchester Andy Burnham recently commented “I believe the water taxi has huge potential as a sustainable local transport solution using the waterways of Greater Manchester.”

The waxi service will run into the evening so visitors to The Lowry Theatre and other leisure destinations in The Quays will be able to enjoy travelling back into central Manchester via the River Irwell and vice versa.
