Peel Group welcomes legal & general capital as 50% JV partner at MediaCityUK scheme
The Peel Group today welcomed Legal & General Capital (LGC) as the new 50% shareholder in its landmark MediaCityUK scheme at Salford Quays, Manchester.
CAU MediaCityUK will be located in Orange overlooking the gardens, (next to the new Pret A Manger store) and marks the group’s 16th UK opening to date and will be the eighth of 2015 following CAU Glasgow.
The key design motifs that have come to characterise a CAU restaurant will all be in evidence including corrugated booth seating and sky and grass imagery, in the 3,000 sq ft restaurant which can accommodate 110 covers.
Graham Hall managing director for Cau said: “We’re very excited to be opening at MediaCityUK, as one of the most distinguished creative & digital hubs in the UK; we think CAUs style of food, design & service fit perfectly with the scheme and its future”.
Mark Robinson, head of asset management for MediaCityUK said: “MediaCityUK continues to evolve and is home to over 250 businesses and thousands of visitors each year, so having a diverse mix of restaurants means there is exciting choice for all. Cau is a fabulous brand to have at MediaCityUK, with their menus and quality of food – but it’s the attention to detail and the ethos of making everything fresh on site that really sets them apart from the rest.”
CAU Food & Drink
Grass-fed Argentinian beef is prominent on the all-day menu at CAU, which also includes twice-cooked pork belly and moreish chicken salad amongst other dishes that are influenced by the cuisine and culture of Buenos Aires.
CAU is not your everyday ‘high street’ restaurant, from the quality of the fresh produce, daily on-site preparation of all elements, to the design and fit out of the restaurant and kitchen – a coal fired oven is at the heart of the CAU kitchen, to the 16 CAU own brand wines which will be available at CAU MediaCityUK. Each of the wines has been lovingly crafted by Phil Crozier, Gaucho and CAU’s Director of Wines and specifically introduced to accompany some of the premium dishes on the menu. In short, CAU intends to bring something new and genuinely different to the casual dining market in the area.
The CAU menu changes with the seasons, but their classic steak highlights including a Tira de Ancho, often referred to as ‘the king of steaks’; a spiral cut of rib-eye, marinated in chimichurri and grilled slowly for maximum tenderness and the Lomito, a fillet of rump which is considered the finest cut in Argentina are available all year round.
These premium cuts are just part of an accessible all day menu that includes breakfast from 7.30am, brunch on a weekend and a knock out Sunday Roast with all the trimmings: roast rump of beef, Yorkshire pudding, Josper roast carrots, beef fat roast potatoes.
CAU is the sister restaurant to the successful Gaucho group which operates 15 restaurants in the United Kingdom. Launched in 2012 CAU currently comprises 13 sites including Liverpool, Wilmslow, Bristol, Guildford, Cambridge and Amsterdam.
