MediaCityUK headquartered cereal giant, Kellogg’s UK, has pledged to donate 500,000 servings of food direct to NHS and key workers across the UK.
The news comes after Kellogg’s announced it would also be distributing a minimum of three million servings of food to its charity partners, to reach food banks, schools and community groups supporting the most vulnerable people.
Staff in NHS hospitals and medical facilities are able to visit Kelloggs.co.uk where they can then request a donation to be delivered direct to their workplace, for their own staff or break rooms.
As well as these donations, the business will be recognising the hauliers who are continuing to ensure food reaches our shelves at this unique time. Kellogg’s will be working to provide food for the staff rooms of its three main UK hauliers.
Kellogg’s VP and head of UK business, Chris Silcock, commented: “At Kellogg’s we want to ensure we are doing what we can to support those who need us at this time. From getting food onto shelves, to supporting local food banks and schools.
‘’I want to take this opportunity to thank the NHS for their tireless work and I hope that by donating a further 500,000 servings of cereal direct to those working on the frontline we are able to help in some way.’’
Kellogg’s UK’s donation to NHS staff comes in addition to the three million servings it has already pledged, bringing total food donations to over 3.5 million servings.
Across Greater Manchester, Kellogg’s is supporting food redistribution charity FareShare to reach hospitals, schools and food banks. Cereals and snacks have been donated to a number of local charities, including Mustard Tree and the Bread and Butter Thing, and over 10,000 packs of cereal have been delivered to Manchester’s hospitals.
Kellogg’s, which has had its UK headquarters in Manchester since 1938, employs more than 1,000 people across the city-region at its Trafford Park factory and office in Salford’s MediaCityUK. Last month, the business received almost 400 applications as it opened up roles at its factory to meet the increased demand for food
