Over 80% of MediaCityUK food and drink businesses have moved away from plastic straws to more sustainable alternatives, beating several areas of Greater Manchester including the Northern Quarter, Didsbury and Chorlton.
In a survey, carried out by SeaStraw an initiative which works with pubs, bars, restaurants and other businesses to avoid single-use plastic, it was found that 82% of MediaCityUK food and drink businesses do not give out single-use plastic straws.
Caroline Robertson-Brown, co-founder of SeaStraw, said: “We know that giving up single-use plastic straws is not enough to save our oceans, but if we cannot do this very simple thing, then it is hard to see how we are going to make the bigger changes that will.”

Over 90% of Peel L&P employees think it is important to remove unnecessary single-use plastics from our business, so in the coming weeks we will continue to raise awareness as well as facilitating litter picking with the MediaCityUK community to make a difference around the quays.
